On Friday, September 22, another Highland Lakes family was "storked" compliments of Taziki's and the Highland Lakes Women's Club. A family dinner for four was delivered to Christi and Greg Brown on Fairfield Lane. They welcomed a baby boy last month!
Don't forget to let Fran Stainback (email@example.com) know when there's an expectant family or new baby in the neighborhood!

The Mom's Express is just another way the HLWC serves and supports our community.
What a great chance to catch up with old friends and meet new ones! Invite your Highland Lakes friends and neighbors to join you and get to know us. It’s a fun afternoon and guests need not be members of the HLWC to attend.
PLEASE RSVP TO TERRY OR LINDA by Tuesday, October 31st.
May 2017 Yard of the Month
Highland Lakes Yard of the Month is 1019 Parkwood Road. The homeowners are Rock and Emelita Braun. This is the second year in a row this gorgeous yard has won. Emelita does all the gardening herself and this year she changed up most of the blooming flowers. There are beautiful white ivy geraniums and purple petunias in urns by the front steps. The flower bed to the left has white sun patients while the bed to the right has purple petunias and verbena. There is a Sun dial in the middle of the yard and a North wind man fountain on the right side. Emelita has several places to sit in the yard so if you drive by and see her out working stop and say hi.
Highland Lakes Residential Association, LLC., has begun the election process of the Architectural Review Committee (ARC) in the fifth sector. The fifth sector is made up of 33 homes on Highland Lakes Trace, Highland Lakes Bend, Highland Lakes Lane, and Highland Lakes Way. The reason this sector was chosen first is because it is one of the oldest sectors in the community and it is a completed sector.
The Covenants were crafted to allow for each neighborhood within Highland Lakes to elect 3 members to fill ARC Board seats. These 3 representatives will fulfill 3 primary functions (per the covenants).
1. Approve ARC submittals within neighborhoods where all homes are built and sold.
2. Serve as an Advisory Board for the elected or developer appointed board members.
3. Elect the HLRA Board members once the developer no longer appoints HLRA Board members. Until all homes are built in the master plan, the developer appoints HLRA Board Members.
The first meeting was held on September 24th, 2016, and we believe it was a successful meeting. We met with everyone in the fifth sector at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Stainback on Highland Lakes Cove. There were ten residents from the sector who attended; a small turn out, but this allowed us to be very productive. Also present representing Eddleman Properties were Doug Eddleman, Scott Smallwood, Catherine Booth and Anna McConathy. We were able to let everyone know what the ARC is and how it functions, and update everyone on some upcoming improvements to the neighborhood as well as address any concerns that were brought up. We are looking forward to upcoming meetings in the 7th and 9th sectors in November with more meetings to come after the first of the year.

Unique Neighborhood Visitor in Highland Lakes
We are all used to seeing various types of wildlife in our neighborhood....but this may be one of the first bald eagles anyone has seen. Marlo and Steve Saunders spotted this eagle at Blue Heron/Highland Lakes Trail Sunday (1/12/14) at dusk. The bald eagle is our national bird and is no longer on the endangered species list. (Read about them here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bald_Eagle ) Thanks to the Saunders for sharing their photos!
